Mizuno Hontanren Series

             (Genuine Forged Series, Blue Steel No.2)

Hontanren Series use the Hitachi Aogami # 2 (Blue Steel # 2) made from the Japanese pure sand irons at their famous Yasugi plant in Shimane Prefecture. It has 1.10 ~1.20 high carbon with 0.20 ~0.50 Chromium and 1.00 ~1.50 Tungsten at Rockwell Rc.61~62, which will definitely outperform Shirogami ( White Steel), and is the best carbon steel in Hitachi Carbon alloy steels.  With this base blade steel in the core edge, Mizuno hand treats and forges with soft iron onto the blue steel in the traditional way using pine charcoal and Fuigo. Each blade is hand polished and finished (Hon Kasumi finished) by their skilled craftsman, and comes with full selection of the blade types to choose from.

You can choose the Water Buffalo Horn Bolster colors from Marble (Above in picture),Black(Middle in picture), White (Below in picture).  When you make order through shopping cart, you can choose your favorite color of water buffalo horn bolster.(The actual color might vary from the picture due to the natural material.)
